Shinya Komatsu (コマツシンヤ) is a Japanese illustrator who began contributing to the Pokémon TCG in the Sword & Shield era, debuting with Octillery in Brilliant Stars and quickly gaining recognition for a Machamp V Alternate Art in Astral Radiance that became the most sought-after card in that set. Their style combines a playful, cartoony character rendering with unusually intricate, highly detailed backgrounds — often featuring rich underwater or environmental scenes reminiscent of hidden-object illustrations. Komatsu has since illustrated around 30 cards across the Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet eras, concentrating on Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares, and is active on X/Twitter as @IZIGEN_s_koma.
