Pokémon card illustrator
Asako Ito (伊東亜沙子) is a Japanese illustrator from Miyagi Prefecture who has contributed to the Pokémon TCG since the Sun & Moon era, debuting with Poliwag in the base Sun & Moon set. She is uniquely distinguished among Pokémon card artists for her handcraft technique: rather than drawing or using digital tools, she crochets amigurumi stuffed dolls of each Pokémon and constructs felt backgrounds, then photographs the results to create the card artwork. Her warm, tactile aesthetic gives her cards — including Altaria, Snorlax, Wigglytuff, and Audino — an unmistakable cozy, handmade charm that stands apart from every other illustrator in the game.
